Release Row – The Rev’s Sizzling Second Single Is Out Now

As a fiery follow-up to their first release, The Rev delivers a blazing number in “Whiskey Rebellion”, a Southern-rock inspired creation that delivers heavy guitar riffs and broad, hardened vocals to match. As an ode to the 1790s whiskey tax protest that swept through the then-new United States, “Whiskey Rebellion” is a stark contrast to the band’s prior single, the mysteriously clandestine outlaw country track “El Diablo” from January.

Recorded at SER Soundworks in Chandler, AZ The Rev once again channel the intense heat and forceful energy of the desert into the recording, highlighting strong and sturdy vocals with a lasting electricity that both begins and ends with drummer Chris Chambers’ persuasive percussion. The song, which was produced by Josh Rozenboom, is reinforced by a convincing chorus and fortified by a guitar solo section near the two-minute mark that cries patriotic anarchy.

“Whiskey Rebellion is the song that started it all, the very first number the band recorded. I first played the song for Monaco in the lead guitar player’s living room—known as the tone lab. Originally acoustic, the song was brought to life after the first listen when Monaco grabbed his trusty PRS and hit the grease pedal, slamming power chords over Meyers’ rhythm strums. That’s when [we knew we] were on to something.”

As the Rev’s second single from their upcoming El Diablo EP, “Whiskey Rebellion” brings the heat from start to finish.

From the opening drumline to the pedal steel finish, The Rev’s latest piece is a stars-and-stripes-brandishing statement that appropriately tips its cap to a tumultuous time in the country’s political history. Through the means of animated, light-hearted country rock from the nation’s less ancient past The Rev strikes gold with their second single and proves to be solidified in its versatility.  So throw on your boots and grab your bourbon, “Whiskey Rebellion” not just requests, but demands your attention.
